Why in glass?

Pasteurisation keeps it fresh the natural way. And the jar stays yours to reuse.

Why in glass?

Pasteurisation keeps it fresh the natural way. And the jar stays yours to reuse.

Why pasteurised?

Pasteurisation keeps the potica in its jar good until you open it; at its best for up to 3 months.

How to serve it?

Remove the two clips and release the vacuum by pulling the rubber tab.

Turn the potica upside down and it slides right out.

Cut the potica into slices and serve.

Quality
glass

Quality glass means a safe delivery and a moist potica.

The jar is made of quality glass that is safe for baking, the kind our grandmothers used to keep their winter preserves in.

Packaging ♻️ you can reuse yourself.

Use it for preserving, or keep jam, compote, cereal, pencils … in it.

How do you open the jar? First remove the two clips, then pull the tab of the orange rubber ring until you hear “ps-s-st” — that means air has got into the jar. Lift off the glass lid and the rubber ring.

How to open the jar: 1 and 2 remove the clips, 3 pull the tab of the orange rubber ring.

Mahorčič

In her youth, Ksenija devoted much of her time to music. After secondary school she completed her studies at the Faculty of Public Administration and swapped her diploma for a kitchen ladle. After marrying Martin, the change of career felt logical to her: cooking had always been her passion. Her cuisine is the fruit of her imagination — free in spirit, reflecting her childhood, her growth and her way of thinking. It shows respect for tradition and for this land.

"Ingredients are all we have, and still — they are not everything. There is love, respect... I am convinced that what we eat, and the way we prepare it, reflect our view of the world and our ability to keep it authentic. The Karst ingredients we use in our dishes are a synonym for responsibility, respect for the people who grow them on this land, and an investment in the future and our culture. Heritage has to be the foundation when shaping a contemporary, richer life, and the starting point for new creative forms."

Local
ingredients

Shop shelves are full of potica wrapped in plastic and packed with additives that have no place in a healthy diet and do nothing for sustainability.

Potica in a jar is the counterweight: for people who care about nature and the environment, and about carefully chosen, wholesome ingredients, with no preservatives, colourings or other additives.

The flour comes from the mill in neighbouring Dolenja vas, the walnuts from our family orchard of 150 walnut trees, the eggs and butter from organic and tourist farms of the Karst and Brkini, the carefully dried white grapes are Gostilna Mahorčič’s own, and the salt comes from the Piran salt pans.
